With nearly 30 years in the fashion industry, we’ve been asked a lot of questions over the years about looking after clothes. We offer a unique collection of women’s fashion from all over the world. While some of these clothes are made from very durable fabrics, others need a little more TLC. Some of the garments might require dry cleaning or hand washing while others can go straight in the washing machine with everything else.
So here are three of the most common questions customers ask us:
- Does it shrink? Some clothes are more susceptible to this than others. I try to use a cold water gentle cycle to help prevent shrinking. I also avoid using the dryer where possible.
- Is it washable? This one is obviously important. Follow the instructions on the label. We may also be able to give you some guidance about how to care for the garment to extend its wearable life so you can get more enjoyment out of it!
- Does it crease? Some clothes crease more than others. It really depends on the fabric – some clothes crease by design while some clothes will need more care when ironing. Other clothes won’t require ironing at all. Linen, which has been very popular this year, always creases. A customer told me many years ago that what she does with linen is to wash it gently, shake it out, hang it up and wear it. Don’t fuss with ironing. Linen gets softer and better the more you wash it.
